Output current limit protection is a point that engineers must pay attention to when developing new products. When the power module has the output current limiting function, once the output current exceeds a fixed value, that is, when a short circuit or overload occurs, the output will be automatically turned off. When the output short circuit or overload status is eliminated, the output can automatically return to normal, which can effectively ensure the safety of the internal system of the module. Normally, the output overcurrent is set internally by the module during production, and the user cannot change it from the outside. Under overheating conditions, if long-term work in overload or short-circuit conditions, the power module may be damaged. This depends on the temperature rise and heat dissipation conditions of the module housing. For voltage modules without over-temperature protection, special attention should be paid when using them.

Output short-circuit protection measures must also be set during the development of new power module products. When the power module has output short-circuit safety measures, most types of power modules work in intermittent mode, and the power consumption of the power module is the main condition that determines whether it can work on the output terminal for a long time and the state of overload. The average power consumption of the input is very low. When the output is overloaded, the power supply module works in the current limiting mode. Under normal conditions, the current-limiting protection pad is near 120% of the nominal output current. At this time, the output power is large, and the power consumption of the module is also large. Avoid working in this state for a long time. In addition, the current value of the output current limit protection ground will change with the input voltage. Generally, it will decrease with the decrease of the input voltage, and increase with the increase of the input voltage. There will be some differences in the model, so special attention should be paid when using it.
